Cricket In Hong Kong
Cricket was first recorded being playing in Hong Kong in 1841. Due to the strong British influence before the handover, cricket today is a thriving sport in Hong Kong, being played more and more as time goes on. Various leagues and tournements are held by local buisnesses/ funders (e.g. Hong Kong Cricket Association and the Cultural Services Deparetment of Hong Kong) throughout Hong Kong. A very popular cricket event hosted in Hong Kong are the
'Cricket Sixes'. This event as held at KCC once a year for three
days during October or November. During this event a range
of famous international cricketers come to play for the prize,
at a six-over per side tournement. In 2007 an 'all star' team
was introduced to this event, and included a range of
international cricketers such as Brian Lara, Glenn Mcgrath,
Craig McMillan, Anil Kumble and Shane Warne. Many a time will
someone fly from another country just to visit this event
based in Hong Kong.
