Cricket In Hong Kong

Cricket was first recorded being playing in Hong Kong in 1841. Due to the strong British influence before the handover, cricket today is a thriving sport in Hong Kong, being played more and more as time goes on. Various leagues and tournements are held by local buisnesses/ funders (e.g. Hong Kong Cricket Association and the Cultural Services Deparetment of Hong Kong) throughout Hong Kong. Some of these include:

  • Under 19 League

  • Under 19 Premier League T20

  • Sunday Championship

  • Junior and Senior School League

  • Saturday Championship Division

  • And Many More!  

 

There are a range of groinds that cricket can be played in Hong Kong. These include:                                               HKCC Cricket Ground

  • Hong Kong University (HKU)

  • Kowloon Cricket Club (KCC)

  • Mission Road/ Tin Kwong Road (MR)

  • Po Kong Village Road (PKVR)

  • Police Training College (PTC)

 

A very popular cricket event hosted in Hong Kong are the 

'Cricket Sixes'. This event as held at KCC once a year for three
days during October or November. During this event a range
of famous international cricketers come to play for the prize,
at a six-over per side tournement. In 2007 an 'all star' team 

was introduced to this event, and included a range of 
international cricketers such as Brian Lara, Glenn Mcgrath,

Craig McMillan, Anil Kumble and Shane Warne. Many a time will

someone fly from another country just to visit this event 

based in Hong Kong.
